We are seeking a technically strong SAP Basis Support Engineer to manage and support complex SAP landscapes, including S/4HANA, NetWeaver, SAP HANA and Sybase ASE environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining system stability, performance, resilience and security across the SAP estate. This role requires deep technical expertise combined with strong troubleshooting capability, structured documentation and clear stakeholder communication.
Future-focused candidates will also demonstrate capability in cloud administration, automation and S/4HANA migration support to enable wider digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Administer and support SAP landscapes across development, test and production environments
* Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting and incident resolution
* Manage database administration activities including backup, recovery and performance optimisation
* Execute system copies, client refreshes and transport management
* Deliver SAP installations, configuration and patching activities
* Support high availability and disaster recovery configurations
* Ensure compliance with security, audit and regulatory standards
* Maintain accurate technical documentation and runbooks
* Collaborate with infrastructure, development and functional teams
Core Technical Skills
SAP Basis Administration (Essential)
* End-to-end SAP landscape management across DEV, TEST and PROD
* System monitoring, log analysis and production troubleshooting
* SAP HANA (HSR), Sybase ASE (HADR), MaxDB, Oracle, SQL Server
* Backup, recovery and performance optimisation
* Linux / Unix and Windows Server environments
Monitoring, Performance & Resilience (Essential)
* SAP tools (SM50, ST22, SM37) and OS-level monitoring
* Performance tuning and bottleneck resolution
* Backup strategy, high availability, clustering and disaster recovery
SAP Platform Expertise
* System copies, client refreshes and transport management (TMS)
* Kernel upgrades, patching and release updates
* In-memory optimisation, schema management and backup configuration
* Monitoring, EarlyWatch and ChaRM
Upgrade & Migration Support (Important)
* SP/FP stack and release upgrades
Security & Compliance
* User and role administration
* Secure configuration, encryption and system hardening
* Audit monitoring and regulatory compliance (including GDPR)
