Healthcare Science Practitioner - Respiratory role at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities
* Provide and contribute to the day-to-day running of the service.
* Interpret lung function tests and, where required, explain their meaning to non-respiratory colleagues.
* Record all activity and validate results in a timely manner.
* Perform respiratory investigations without supervision in accordance with ARTP/BTS/ERS guidelines:
o Spirometry/Flow volume loops
o Single breath Gas transfer
o Static lung volumes via body plethysmography
o FeNO
o Reversibility studies
o Capillary blood gases
* Keep up-to-date with best practice in respiratory physiology testing and update protocols and SOPs as required.
* Be aware of and work within local, national and international clinical standards and protocols.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of department policy, procedures and service development.
* Support junior staff within the service.
* Ensure quality control procedures are maintained, highlight when corrective actions are required, and contact EME for further support when needed.
* Maintain all department equipment in a fully functional state.
* Maintain stock within the scope of the service budget.
* Sterilise and disinfect all departmental equipment as necessary.
Requirements and opportunities
We are offering the right candidate the opportunity to join the team as either a Band 5 Respiratory healthcare practitioner or as a Band 4 trainee and be supported with a combination of in-house and external degree-level training to develop into a Clinical Physiologist.
