Engineer - Mechanical
Croda is a FTSE100 organisation driven around our purpose of Smart Science to Improve Lives. With over 6,000 employees across 39 countries, we are focused on the research and development of novel and highly sustainable raw materials for the Life Sciences and Consumer Care sectors.
We are passionate and excited about how we can develop and utilise new technologies to shape and inspire changes within an ever-growing marketplace. As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Rawcliffe Bridge. In this role, you will provide essential technical expertise to our mechanical engineering team and the wider site, ensuring the integrity and reliability of our assets while driving continuous improvement through sound engineering principles. We are looking for an energetic team player who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
For the avoidance of doubt, we are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer, not a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.
Who We’re Looking For:
At Croda, we believe our people are the heart of our success. We are committed to fostering an environment where you can grow, make a meaningful impact, and thrive.
1. You should be educated to a minimum BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable discipline.
2. Proven experience working in a relevant industry, such as oil and gas, petrochemical, or chemical industries.
3. It is preferred that you are working towards (or already hold) chartership with a recognised professional body.
4. An effective communicator, capable of building strong working relationships across internal departments and with external partners.
5. Skilled in problem-solving techniques such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or failure analysis.
6. Strong understanding of pressure systems design standards (ASME, ASME VIII, PD5500), legislation (PSSR, Pressure Equipment Safety
7. Regulations 2016), and repair methods.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Be part of a team that values diversity, sustainability, and continuous innovation, where your ideas and contributions matter.
8. Work harmoniously with other engineering functions and operations to maintain and improve plant integrity, reliability, and operability.
9. Lead and carry out Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on plant failures to prevent recurrence.
10. Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop engineering solutions that resolve technical issues and improve plant efficiency.
11. Participate in MOC activities and contribute to risk assessments for proposed plant modifications.
12. Manage small projects from concept through to commissioning and provide mechanical oversight to major capital projects (FEED and detailed design).
13. Assist in the development of site-wide mechanical engineering and integrity standards, procedures, and work instructions.
What We Offer:
Join a global organisation with countless opportunities for growth and leadership.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and benefits package including:
14. Defined benefit pension scheme
15. 25 days paid holiday allowance (plus bank holidays)
