About the Role

Accommodation services provides Respite and Supported Living services for adults with a learning disability. Our aim is to support and empower service users to enhance their quality of life, maximise potential and to continue to develop and promote independent skills within their own home, in the Respite service and in the community.

You will be joining an established staff team and will be required to work within the existing rota, which includes a mixture of early shifts (starting at 8am), late shifts (ending at 10pm), sleep in shifts and every other weekend. Enhancements are paid for unsocial hours and weekends. There may also be opportunities to pick up additional hours as a Relief Support Worker, depending on service needs.

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, along with our employee network 'IDEAL' and self-organised peer support groups help us to foster an inclusive, supportive and safe working environment where people feel valued, respected, and empowered. We collect relevant diversity data for monitoring as part of the recruitment process to understand the diversity of our applicants and monitor any trends throughout the recruitment processes so that we can take meaningful action.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a permanent Support Worker to work 30 hours per week who is motivated, enthusiastic and a creative team player, committed to providing high-quality support. The role is based in Wyton (between Huntingdon and St Ives, Cambridgeshire).

You will need to be confident to undertake personal care tasks and have a willingness and capacity to work with people who may challenge. The role involves providing 1:1 support, and you will be lone working for the majority of your shifts, with support and guidance available from the wider team. There will also be a requirement to work across services, including both respite and supported living, to meet service needs. Staff will have the benefits of regular supervision, annual appraisals and excellent training opportunities, including face-to-face training and access to Cambridgeshire County Council Our Development training online. The team attends staff meetings once a month.

Qualifications and Skills

You will have a level 2 Care Certificate in Health and Social care and a willingness to undertake further qualifications in social care if applicable. There is a requirement to complete an induction which includes all mandatory training which will include E-Learning modules. You will also have previous experience of working within a person-centred care setting. You will be someone able to work under your own initiative as there will be occasions where you are lone working. Clear procedures and protocols are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all our lone workers.

Location

Cambridgeshire is a great place to work and live with a diverse population, an urban centre in Cambridge, historic Isle of Ely, Huntingdon and St Ives as well as more rural landscapes.
