Overview

Doctoral Programmes Officer – supports and enriches the experience of doctoral researchers and plays a key role in developing policy and strategy for doctoral study. The role is based in the Doctoral College and involves recruitment, student and programme administration, professional skills development and overall student support from enquiry to graduation.


Responsibilities

* Direct line management of two Doctoral Programme Administrators.
* Oversee effective administration of the Doctorate in Education (EdD), Doctorate in Health (DHealth) and Doctorate in Policy Research and Practice (DPRP) programmes.
* Manage student progression and examination processes, ensuring timely and regulation‑compliant operations.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for students across the University, maintaining regular communication.
* Collaborate with academic and professional service colleagues to enhance the experience of applicants and students.
* Mentor and motivate programme administrators to deliver tasks and develop their skills.


About You

The role requires a blend of student administration experience, organisational abilities, and the ability to adapt to new systems and challenges. Applicants from a range of backgrounds, including non‑higher‑education sectors, are encouraged to apply.

* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
* Ability to work to deadlines independently.

* Experience in mentoring or line‑managing staff.


Work Model

Full‑time position (36.5 hours per week) on a permanent basis. A hybrid model is in place, allowing staff to mix working from home and in the University campus.
