Job Description for cleaning person for Waverley Community Council
Reporting to: Clerk to the Council
Location: Waverley Community Hub, and Waverley
Hours: 10 hours, may include weekend working with a possibility of extra hours.
Pay: £12.60 an hour as of April 2025, on a flexi hours basis to be agreed with the Clerk
* The council will make appropriate provision for the payment of a pension in accordance with the Automatic Enrolment Pension Scheme.
* Annual leave is 22 days pro rata according to working hours excluding statutory Holidays.
* Sick pay will be paid according to your contract.
* The post is permanent, with a probation period.
Overall Responsibilities: the main responsibilities include cleaning the community centre, as well as emptying the bins. Report hazards, such as fire hazards, and managing minor blockages. It is expected you will be courteous and friendly to members of the public as the 'face' of the Waverley Community Council and take a flexible approach to meet the Council's requirements. You will be expected to undertake training as and when requested.
Main Duties
· Cleaning the community centre areas including the rooms for hire, toilets, offices and kitchen, and bins
· Providing safe handling and storage of all cleaning materials.
· Keep storeroom and access tidy.
· You will also be asked to advise the Clerk when consumables are needed in a timely manner and ensure adequate stock of cleaning and hygiene supplies.
· Notifying Clerk if repairs are needed
Health and Safety
· Report hazards, such as fire hazards, and managing minor blockages.
· Able to attend training deemed relevant to the position.
General Requirements
· Attend and assist the council at events, such as the annual Funday, Christmas Light-switch on and adding tree dressing amongst other things
· Opening and closing the community centre for people in the absence of the Caretaker. Deal with contractors and deliveries, as and when necessary.
Working with the Clerk
· You will be expected to liaise with the Clerk on the cleaning routine
· As a term of your employment, you can be required to undertake such other duties commensurate with your grade/hours of work, as may reasonably be required of you at your initial place of work or at other of the Council's property at the request of the Clerk.
· The post is ideally suited to someone living locally who is reliable. All necessary equipment and products provided.
