Overview

Join to apply for the ALNco/ALN Teacher (SENCO) role at CareTech.

Hours: 40 hours per week, term time, permanent position.

Salary Details: Up to £41,600 per annum.

Location: Branas School, Corwen, Denbighshire.

Closing Date: Monday 29 September 2025.


Job Purpose

Job purpose is to assist the Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher with the management and organisation of ALN within the school, in seeking to achieve the highest standard of pupil achievement and school efficiency.


The School

Branas School supports young people aged 11-18, many of whom may have experienced significant adverse childhood experiences and present with complex needs. The school supports young people with complex social, emotional and mental health needs and mild to moderate learning difficulties, requiring nurture and motivation from teachers who are dedicated to helping them release their true potential. Through personalised support, we help our pupils achieve their goals and overcome previous barriers to learning and achievement. Our vision is for students to be supported academically and to develop self-esteem, confidence, respect and consideration for others, to become effective and contributing citizens within the community.


The Ideal Candidate

• You will have qualifications relevant to the role.

• You will have strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and Ofsted Inspection Framework.

• You will have safeguarding knowledge and experience of working as part of a team to safeguard young people.

• You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, who plans, delivers and assesses regularly, and pursues proactive ways to develop your practice.

• Experience in managing complex behaviours with trauma-informed practice and appropriate interventions is desirable.


Responsibilities

* Fully participate in the life of the school community, promoting and supporting its ethos, values and aims.
* Maintain high expectations and lead by example.
* Contribute to the evaluation, monitoring and development of the school curriculum, and assist in development and positive change within the school community.
* Monitor implementation of policies and procedures.
* Assist in devising timetables and rosters, ensure group compatibility.
* Support management of staff team.
* Develop good relationships with students, parents and stakeholders.
* Lead involvement in curriculum activities, organisation and pastoral functions of the school.
* Lead staff in planning for ILPs and pupil profiles; support staff in setting targets and monitoring progress.
* Complete annual reviews for IDP/EHCP pupils and coordinate assessment for learner needs.
* Develop strategic plans for ALN with clear targets, timetables and success criteria, in the context of the School Improvement Plan.
* Teach as required.
