The Lung Cancer Screening programme enables the early detection of lung cancer in order to save lives across Cheshire and Merseyside, in areas where significant impact can be made from the recognition of early stage lung cancer and offering curative treatment. A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Lung Cancer Screening Nurses to join our Lung Cancer Screening Service working across Cheshire and Merseyside. The post holder should have a background in Respiratory Medicine where they will undertake telephone assessments to screen and refer for a low dose CT chest scans to help to identify early stages of lung cancer. Understanding the management of patients undergoing a worsening of their condition utilising a recognised pathway for referral if appropriate. Develop clinical skills in history taking, clinical examination, assessment and/or treatment of respiratory disease Involve patients, carers and relatives in the giving of information regarding the project. Impart specialist knowledge, advice and support to colleagues, patients, carers and relative where appropriate. Use the expertise and knowledge of professional colleagues, acknowledging the boundaries of different roles. Undertake training to be able to complete patient assessment, shared decision tool and be able to facilitate appropriate on-going referrals. Ability to have effective and compassionate communication, sometimes under complex circumstances. Provide sensitive, complex information to patients, carers, relatives and professionals regarding the project.
