UKTL is building leading-edge Telecoms testing facilities to keep our telecommunications networks safe, accelerate the roll-out of new technologies, and grow our world-leading telecoms sector to maintain resiliency and security.

Successful candidates will join a state-of-the-art facility and support the team conducting testing and research on the latest technologies and innovations in the industry. You will work alongside our infrastructure and Cybersecurity professionals to ensure that the UK’s world-class Telecoms infrastructure grows in a resilient and secure manner, underpinning growth in other industry sectors.

As a trusted and independent national capability, UKTL interacts with standards bodies, academia, government departments, communications service providers, and equipment vendors.

Successful applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Birmingham, with the possibility of hybrid working.

The ideal candidate will have experience within a security function, particularly in designing, implementing, and managing the requirements of a secure facility. You should be able to work as part of a team and also manage your workload independently. We are looking for someone who is pragmatic, highly organized, detail-focused, and a good communicator. You should thrive in a dynamic environment.

Essential skills include:

1. The ability to develop operational procedures to address security gaps in line with the security strategy.
2. Ability to manage high-security environments, including callout response.
3. Maintain security awareness and culture.
4. Provide governance and oversight of physical security standards for NPL's secure critical assets.
5. Experience in designing physical security infrastructure and implementing security procedures.
6. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
7. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
8. Must have or be able to obtain the appropriate security clearance, such as SC clearance.
9. Membership of DISA or the Security Institute, or holding a vocational qualification like CSMP or ASIS CPP.
