About the role We are looking for an experienced and strategic leader to shape the future of Kirklees’ town centres.
As
Head of Town Centre Regeneration, you will lead the transformation of our town and local centres to ensure they are vibrant, sustainable and attractive places to live, work, visit and invest.
This is a high-impact leadership role where you will oversee major regeneration programmes, develop future investment opportunities, and work closely with partners across the region to deliver long-term change.
What you’ll be doing In this role, you will:
Lead the Council’s strategic approach to town centre regeneration across Kirklees
Oversee delivery of major regeneration programmes, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet funding requirements
Develop masterplans, regeneration frameworks and investment pipelines that turn long-term visions into deliverable projects
Act as the Council’s senior lead for town centre regeneration, working with key partners including West Yorkshire Combined Authority, central government and developers
Drive forward regeneration in key locations, including leading the Council’s role in Pride in Place in Dewsbury
Identify and unlock opportunities to bring forward sites, reuse buildings and attract investment
Lead work on town centre housing to support vibrant, sustainable communities
Promote culture-led regeneration, supporting local businesses, communities and the creative economy
Ensure strong governance, programme management and reporting across all regeneration activity
What we’re looking for We are looking for a confident and collaborative leader with a strong track record in regeneration or major development.
You will have:
A relevant professional qualification
Significant senior leadership experience within regeneration, development or a related field
Extensive experience of major development projects, policy development and strategic planning
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior and political levels
Experience of securing funding and developing investment propositions
Strong financial awareness and the ability to manage complex programmes
A good understanding of local government and partnership working across public and private sectors
