Purpose of the Role
This pivotal role combines leadership of the school's administrative office with responsibility for the efficient coordination of all examinations. The postholder ensures smooth day-to-day operations, compliance with statutory requirements, and accurate, secure management of exams in line with JCQ and awarding body regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Office Management
* Lead, manage, and develop the school's administrative team.
* Oversee reception, attendance, admissions, and general office functions.
* Manage school communication systems (letters, newsletters, website, MIS).
* Ensure accurate maintenance of pupil and staff records in line with GDPR.
* Support senior leaders with timetabling, data analysis, and reporting.
* Act as first point of contact for parents, visitors, and external agencies.
* Manage office budgets, ordering, and resources efficiently.
Exams Officer Duties
* Plan, organise, and administer all internal and external examinations.
* Register candidates, make entries, and liaise with awarding bodies.
* Ensure compliance with JCQ regulations and school policies.
* Recruit, train, and manage invigilators.
* Oversee secure storage and distribution of exam papers.
* Prepare exam timetables, seating plans, and candidate information.
* Support students with access arrangements and special considerations.
* Collate and distribute results, manage post-results services (remarks, appeals).
* Act as the main contact for exam boards, inspectors, and auditors.
Person Specification
Essential
* Proven experience in school administration or office management.
* Strong organisational and leadership skills.
* Excellent IT skills (MIS systems such as SIMS/Bromcom, MS Office).
* Knowledge of JCQ regulations and exam administration processes.
* High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable
* Previous experience as an Exams Officer.
* Experience managing staff and budgets.
* First Aid and/or Safeguarding training.

Pay: £27,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
