You will work alongside the Head of Science to provide strategic direction for the department, ensuring the delivery of a stimulating and challenging Science curriculum across all Key Stages. Key Responsibilities: Curriculum Leadership: Collaborate with the Head of Science and the wider Science team in the ongoing development of the Science curriculum, aligning it with the National Curriculum, departmental vision, and latest advancements in Science education. Oversee the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment in Science across all Key Stages. Implement innovative teaching and learning strategies to enhance student engagement and scientific understanding. Foster a collaborative and supportive environment within the Science department, promoting the sharing of best practices and professional development. Teacher Development: Provide guidance and support to Science teachers across all Key Stages, promoting effective teaching and assessment practices. Identify professional development needs within the department and facilitate training opportunities. Resources Management: Play a key role in managing the department's resources budget effectively, ensuring resources are aligned with curriculum needs. External Relations: Maintain strong links with external Science societies and organizations to enrich the curriculum and provide students with wider learning opportunities. Represent the Science department at school events and meetings. The Ideal Candidate: A qualified Science teacher with a minimum of 5 years' successful teaching experience, including leadership experience within a Science department. A proven track record of raising standards in Science and a demonstrable passion for the subject. Excellent subject knowledge and a commitment to staying abreast of current trends and developments in Science education. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
