The role
The Client Services Director (CSD) plays a pivotal role in the management of the agency. Reporting to the VP of Medical Communications, the CSD drives strategic account growth, financial performance and operational excellence in line with company vision and values. Key responsibilities include leading client relationships, optimising workflow and financial KPIs, overseeing business development efforts, and ensuring high standards of service delivery. The CSD also contributes to wider agency leadership, supports new business pitches, and mentors team members to ensure long-term success and talent development. With over 10 years of relevant experience, ideally in a full-service med comms agency, the role demands strong leadership, strategic thinking, financial acumen, and outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
Responsibilities
* Lead client relationships and ensure high-quality service delivery across accounts
* Optimize workflow and monitor financial KPIs to drive performance
* Oversee business development efforts and contribute to new business pitches
* Contribute to wider agency leadership and mentor team members for long-term success and talent development
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver strategic, science-driven solutions
Qualifications
* 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a full-service medical communications agency
* Ideally, a life sciences degree, preferably with a Master's or PhD, or other relevant qualification
* Excellent interpersonal and relationship development skills; able to influence colleagues and clients and actively listen
* Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities
* Solutions-based with complex problem-solving capability
* Visionary leadership with ability to motivate a workforce and lead by example
* Effective communication and negotiation skills; strong presentation skills
* Understanding of multi-faceted business operations
* Strong financial acumen, planning and forecasting
* Excellent organizational skills, time management, and adherence to deadlines
* High attention to detail and outstanding written and oral communication skills
