About Haskoning
At Haskoning, you will join an independent, employee-owned international consultancy that combines engineering, design, and consultancy services with software and technology. Our mission, "Enhancing Society Together," drives us to create a positive impact on the world.

We offer purpose-driven and challenging work on diverse projects, leveraging our 140+ years of expertise. With over 6,800 employees in more than 25 countries, we work together to turn challenges into opportunities and make a real impact on society globally.

About The Resilience Engineering Team
Within the Environment-Resilience-Renewables (E-R-R) group, there are around 30 engineers and technicians focusing on waters edge projects. The team has a strong track record and many ongoing projects in the coastal and fluvial sector as well as drainage projects. We also work closely with other engineering teams within the company (such as Maritime, Highways, Infrastructure), which gives broader experience to our graduate engineers. Recent project highlights have been the award-winning Southsea Coastal Scheme and Northey Island Coastal Adaptation projects and Holme Sluice Fish Pass. Projects are varied and range from solving flooding and erosion problems to habitat creation and amenity enhancement schemes working for a variety of clients such as local authorities, contractors and private clients.

The team has the knowledge and experience to complete all stages of projects from project management; data gathering and interpretation; specification and supervision of site surveys; optioneering & appraisals; outline & detailed design; maintenance advice; procurement; and construction support.

The Role
This position is for a Graduate Civil Engineer to work on projects and proposals primarily in coastal and fluvial engineering within the national and international market. You will provide relevant and appropriate assistance to Project Managers and technical specialists as well as bring your own knowledge. The role involves significant technical and general contributions to activities such as site inspections, feasibility studies, designs, construction support, report-writing, liaison with external parties, digital tools usage/development, document management & BIM, and sustainability & carbon considerations.

A good understanding of the practice of engineering consultancy is advantageous, as is a broad awareness of the key drivers and risks associated with clients’ projects, environmental issues and solutions.

We require an enthusiastic, optimistic, conscientious, and talented person with good communication skills, willingness to learn and technical ability. The candidate must be able to work in a team and, at times, independently. The role will require close working with members of the various teams across the UK as well as with staff across other Business Lines. You must contribute proactively to ensure consulting services are consistently delivered to the highest standards, meeting and exceeding clients needs.

What We Are Looking For

* Bachelors (essential) and a Masters (desirable) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a view to obtaining ICE Chartered Member status.
* Understanding of materials and hydraulic, geotechnical, and structural principles.
* Excellent organisation skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* A good understanding of the engineering and environmental consultancy sectors.
* Previous experience within a team environment.
* Interest in coastal and fluvial projects.
* Commercial awareness.
* Knowledge of Industry drivers (e.g. NetZero, UN Sustainable Development Goals).
