Job Responsibilities
* Manage and oversee pension fund accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
* Support the preparation of pension fund accounts, financial statements, and statutory reporting requirements.
* Monitor and analyse investment performance, providing clear reporting and insight to stakeholders.
* Work closely with investment advisors, actuaries, and external partners to support effective fund management.
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards, audit requirements, and pension regulations.
* Provide financial advice and technical support relating to pensions accounting and investments.
* Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for the pension fund.
* Prepare reports and updates for senior management, committees, and governance bodies.
* Contribute to improving financial controls, processes, and reporting systems.
* Maintain accurate financial records and ensure robust governance and audit trails.
Person Specification
Must-Have Requirements
* Proven experience in pensions accounting, investment accounting, or a similar finance role.
* Strong understanding of pension fund management and financial reporting requirements.
* Experience preparing statutory accounts and financial statements.
* Knowledge of relevant accounting standards and regulatory frameworks.
* Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
* Experience working with stakeholders such as auditors, actuaries, or investment consultants.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Nice-to-Have Requirements
* Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent).
* Experience working within a local authority or public sector pension fund.
* Knowledge of investment performance analysis and reporting tools.
* Experience supporting governance committees or pension boards.
* Familiarity with pension administration systems or financial reporting software.
