Practice Facilitator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Practice Facilitator to join the Operating Theatres team at Moorfields Eye Hospital, City Road. This role is pivotal in supporting the development, education and clinical competence of perioperative staff within a highly specialised ophthalmic service.

Working closely with the Theatre Practice Educator and senior clinical leaders, the post holder will support learning in practice, promote evidence-based care, and contribute to a positive learning culture within theatres. The role combines clinical credibility with an educational focus, supporting staff across Bands 3-6 to deliver safe, high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative pathway.

This post is ideal for an experienced registered practitioner who is passionate about education, staff development and patient safety, and who is motivated to influence and support continuous improvement in clinical practice.

The post holder will support the delivery of practice-based education within the perioperative environment, working in partnership with the Practice Educator to support staff development within anaesthetics and recovery.

The post holder will contribute to both the clinical and educational functions of the department, maintaining a significant clinical presence while facilitating learning in practice. This includes supporting staff as they work towards completion of their clinical competencies, enabling them to translate theoretical knowledge into safe, effective clinical practice and to function as confident members of the theatre team.

Working directly alongside practitioners in the clinical environment, the post holder will model high standards of practice and support individuals to adapt their transferable skills to the specific requirements of ophthalmic anaesthetics and recovery. The role involves promoting evidence-based practice through day-to-day clinical support, supervision and coaching, ensuring learning is embedded within routine theatre activity.

The Practice Facilitator will work collaboratively with the Practice Educator to support the implementation of best practice, contributing to the development of staff capability while maintaining patient safety and quality of care within the operating theatres.
