As a Warehouse Shift Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring operations run smoothly, KPIs are delivered, and our people are supported to perform at their best. Here are some of the benefits we offer that make working for Gist just that little bit more special… 20% M&S discount on most things from furniture, fashion and food 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (rising with length of service) Discounted rates on healthcare cash plan Attractive annual bonus scheme, based on M&S performance and personal objectives Auto Enrolment Pension or competitive Defined Contribution Pension Scheme and life assurance (up to 4 times salary) Access to a wide range of wellbeing support – including our Employee Assistance Programme A first-class welcome with a tailored induction and a wide range of training schemes to help with your learning and development Cycle to work scheme Role details: Salary: Up to £41,200 £3,000 (shift allowance) per annum Hours: 38 hours per week Working pattern: Backs - Any 4 from 7 (start times between 12pm to 1pm - 10 hour shifts) Location: Gist Limited, Enterprise Way, Thatcham, RG19 4BQ What you’ll do: Owning the recruitment and induction of new colleagues within the warehouse Managing daily administrative tasks, including payroll systems, holiday queries and payroll issues Driving shift performance through Team Leaders to consistently achieve KPIs Planning and delivering operational activity in line with live volumes and resource requirements Ensuring all health, safety, environmental and quality standards are met or escalated where necessary Creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive and positive working environment for employees, agency staff and subcontractors Managing direct reports across a range of people-focused activities, including: Wellbeing meetings, long-term sickness management, return-to-work meetings and disciplinaries Delivering shift briefings when required Working closely with third-party labour providers to ensure appropriate resourcing levels Reviewing operational plans and maintaining systems in line with live volumes Identifying, reviewing and supporting training and development needs Planning and leading operational, people and safety meetings Conducting accident investigations, hazard walks and safety observations Continuously improving performance to maximise efficiency in line with account KPIs Who you are: You have strong, hands-on experience within a warehouse operation in the FMCG or retail distribution sector You’re operating (or have operated) at a management level within a similar environment You’re passionate about developing teams, encouraging collaboration and creating a culture where people feel confident sharing ideas You have excellent people management skills, with experience developing Team Leaders You’re analytical, organised and comfortable working with data and KPIs You’re flexible and open to covering a variety of shift patterns in the future Experience working with Trade Unions would be beneficial Why Gist?
