Overflow Strategy and Performance Management Lead

Our River Enhancement team is seeking an **Overflow Strategy and Performance Management Lead** to set the strategic direction and continuously drive tangible improvements in storm overflow and emergency overflow spills performance. The role ensures compliance while delivering enhancements that enable us to exceed company‑level targets and external commitments.
Key Responsibilities
* Own the targeting strategy, performance management, forecasting insights, reporting framework and stakeholder engagement for CSO performance.
* Lead prioritisation of improvement activity and accountable for measuring benefits across the business.
* Identify and size opportunities, track benefits, and embed continuous learning to drive successful outcomes.
* Balance team resources in a high‑demand environment and provide clear, influential performance insight to senior stakeholders.
* Deliver actionable insights into performance data, turning analysis into practical applications and influencing the business to act.
* Develop the team to exploit data, identify inefficient processes, new opportunities, and support high‑quality decision making.
* Create responsive measures and reports to adapt to performance shifts and guide operational teams in meeting strategy, process and regulatory commitments.
* Track the delivery and tangible benefits of improvement initiatives across Waste Networks, escalating concerns promptly to secure best outcomes.
* Bridge the gap between overflow strategy and operational teams, translating strategy into practical targets and plans for 12‑24 months.
* Aid future strategic decision‑making around performance, such as supporting ODI development, PR24 targets, and assessing new ideas for feasibility and impact.
Qualifications & Skills
We’re looking for someone with strong technical knowledge of waste network processes and experience working in operational and regulatory environments. You will have a proven ability to analyse complex data and extract meaningful insight to drive performance improvement. Ideal candidates will also:
* Have experience managing multiple high‑profile performance metrics and delivering step changes in results.
* Build strong relationships, gain credibility quickly and maintain effective stakeholder engagement at all levels.
* Exhibit excellent attention to detail and the ability to understand processes at both detailed data level and within the wider business context.
* Show an intuitive eye for identifying improvement opportunities through forums, meetings and broader networking.
