One of the UK’s most inspiring and best-known faith-based organisations, The Salvation Army, is looking for a target-driven Service Managerwithin-depth knowledge of services for vulnerable clients in a competitive climateto join our Anti-Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery Operation Unit in the Peterborough area.
Our Anti-Trafficking and Modern Slavery team provides specialist support to protect and care for all adult survivors of modern slavery in England and Wales through a government contract which was first awarded in. A new and extended contract came into force in January through which survivors of modern slavery are now entitled to support at all stages of their recovery. Since The Salvation Army and its partners have supported a total of 21, recovering survivors of modern slavery. Last year a total of 3, potential victims entered the service, a 5% increase on the previous year.
Key Responsibilities:
The role of Specialist Support Worker is critical to providing an enhanced level of service for our vulnerable clients. Join us and you could soon be responsible for taking a lead role in a specialist area or working within a specialist programme and/or team to plan and deliver a high-quality support service. Mitigating suffering from the after-effects of the trauma caused by trafficking, sexual abuse, rape and/or domestic slavery will be high on your list of priorities. So too will identifying and assessing the risks and needs of trafficked victims using an evidence-based risk identification checklist. Managing a busy caseload, developing individual support plans with clients, and advocating for high-risk service users with agencies - these are just some aspects of this vital support role.
To succeed, you will need:
1. A Level 3 NVQ qualification or equivalent in a related field or willingness to work towards it.
2. A track record in supported accommodation and housing management and providing casework support to vulnerable clients, including crisis management and risk assessment.
3. Proven experience or knowledge of providing advice and support to individuals who have been trafficked, a basic understanding of the relevant legislation and awareness of safe practice when lone working.
4. An awareness of the impact of crime on victims, witnesses, and the wider community and an understanding of the criminal justice system, safeguarding children and legal responsibilities.
5. Knowledge and experience of providing a co-ordinated service with statutory and voluntary services available for the client group and the ability to support Service Users effectively in crisis.
6. Good communication, team working and people management skills
7. Experience recording and managing financial transactions.
