Job Summary Seeking Nurses with NMC registration only, with experience in Gastroenterology Nursing only. The role is on Ward D1 (part of a multidisciplinary team) and is 28 hours per week.
SNHSFT supports growth and development, including funding degree or master level modules related to Gastroenterology.
Ward D1 is a 25‑bedded acute unit that works as a team to deliver high‑standard care.
Main Duties
Work within the NMC code of conduct.
Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
Provide excellent written documentation.
Support patients with care delivery.
Care for NGs, PEGs and PICC lines.
Venepuncture and cannulation (training available).
Supervise and support healthcare assistants.
Care for acutely unwell patients.
Participate in further education and learning.
Responsibilities for Patient Care
Assess care needs, develop and implement care plans.
Work with relatives and carers to improve patient care standards.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
Uphold Trust dignity and respect standards.
Ensure nursing care is appropriate and consistent with clinical guidelines.
Use professional judgement to analyse patient conditions and act appropriately.
Promote safeguarding for vulnerable patients in line with national and local policy.
Planning and Organising
Prioritise own workload.
As Shift Leader, plan discharges, liaise with Social Services and organise safe hand‑overs.
Contribute to the Trust’s clinical governance agenda.
