Job Overview
North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Cellular Pathologist to support our Tees Valley pathology service. This post is primarily based at the University Hospital of North Tees.
Responsibilities
* Routine case reporting, including frozen sections, for a general surgical case mix.
* Participation in sub‑specialty team reporting of complex resection specimens.
* Provide histopathological advice and support to clinical colleagues and discuss findings.
* Contribute to audit and monitoring of clinical services.
* Provide pathology support to one or more cancer multidisciplinary teams.
* Supervise and train medical, scientific and technical staff within the directorate.
* Maintain relevant CPD activity and contribute to the effective running of the directorate through service planning and development.
* Adult autopsy duties only if specifically required; no perinatal autopsies, and coronial duties are outside NHS responsibilities.
Qualifications
* FRCPath or equivalent.
* Fully registered with the General Medical Council (London) with a licence to practice.
* Entry on the GMC specialist register via: CCT – proposed date within 6 months of interview, CESR, or European Community Rights.
* MD, PhD or equivalent.
* Teaching certificate.
* Membership of professional organisations such as the Association of Clinical Pathologists or the International Association of Pathologists.

* Declared interest in a sub‑specialist area of pathology advantageous.
* Knowledge of undergraduate medical education.
