Position: SEN 1–1 Support Assistant.
Contract: Full-time / Part-time.
Location: Blackpool.
Start Date: 5th January.
Teaching Personnel is looking for a compassionate and motivated SEN 1–1 Support Assistant to work closely with a pupil who has Special Educational Needs. This role is ideal for someone coming from a care, support work, or health & social care background, and no previous school experience is required—full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide individualised, 1:1 support to a pupil in line with their EHCP and learning needs.
* Help the child engage in classroom activities by breaking down tasks and offering reassurance and encouragement.
* Support the pupil’s social, emotional, and behavioural development using positive, nurturing approaches.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to follow support strategies.
* Promote independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.
* Ensure the child’s wellbeing, comfort, and safety throughout the school day.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
* Has experience working in care, support work, or a similar people-focused role.
* Is patient, empathetic, and confident working with children with additional needs.
* Has good communication skills and can build trusting relationships.
* Is adaptable, calm under pressure, and able to use initiative.
* Is willing to learn and develop through training and guidance.
