Head of Music

The Mercian Trust, Queen Mary’s Grammar School, Walsall, is an invigorating and rewarding place to work: the pupils are engaged and committed to study; the staff are intelligent, friendly and forward-looking.

Salary: MPR/UPR plus TLR 2C (£8,611)

Contract type: Permanent, Full time or part time

Start date: September 2026

Responsibilities

Strategically manage the music department, including oversight of the curriculum, teaching and learning, peripatetic provision and extra‑curricular opportunities.

Inspire staff and young people as part of the music offering at the school with a proven track record of academic success and curriculum impact.


Qualifications

* Exceptional music practitioner
* Proven track record of academic success and curriculum impact
* Ability to teach a second subject would be an advantage for full‑time candidates
