Overview
Senior Staff Nurse - Band 6
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Senior Staff Nurse to join our award-winning Paediatric Hospital@Home service, based at North Middlesex University Hospital. The service provides home-based care to children in the boroughs of Enfield and Haringey, operating 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with working hours 07:30–20:00 (early and late shifts).
The Hospital at Home (H@H) service is commissioned by NCL ICB to deliver hospital-standard care to children with acute nursing needs in the community. Working within a virtual ward model, the team will develop bespoke care pathways to avoid extended lengths of stay and admissions, collaborating with Paediatricians and pharmacy to ensure seamless transfers home and high-quality care in the child’s treatment plan.
Main duties
The service currently covers Enfield and Haringey, with potential expansion. The role is suitable for an experienced paediatric nurse with robust clinical skills who can work autonomously and as part of a team. Experience in PED or PAU is desirable. The H@H service operates 7 days per week, 08:00–20:00, offering 7 care pathways and ongoing development of new pathways. The service sees babies, children and young people at home for treatment and assessments.
The post holder will work within the BCYP H@H Service, delivering treatment, reviews and assessments at the service user’s home. They will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide safe management of acute paediatric illness in the community, support flow across departments, facilitate early discharges and ensure care plans are met in the community. They should be able to triage and identify patients suitable for H@H and contribute to rapid discharges, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in line with policies and guidelines.
