Junior CAD Technician
Overview
The Junior CAD Technician supports the Design Department by producing and maintaining mechanical drawings and assisting with design-related tasks. The role involves creating, updating, and managing CAD data in accordance with company standards and procedures.
This position is intended for someone developing their technical capability who wants to gain experience in mechanical design, drawing production, and engineering processes within a manufacturing environment. The role ensures drawings are accurate, controlled, and suitable for manufacturing and operational use.
Key Duties:
* Support design activities by assisting with layouts, assemblies, and customer-specific modifications under guidance.
* Produce and maintain mechanical drawings in accordance with company CAD standards and procedures.
* Use approved standard drawings and assist with their maintenance and improvement.
* Update drawings and maintain revision control to ensure accuracy and traceability.
* Save, organise, and manage CAD files within the company drawing system to ensure correct version control and accessibility.
* Work with the design team and wider business to ensure drawings meet project, manufacturing, and operational requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Basic understanding of mechanical engineering drawings.
* Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar.
* Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Ability to follow defined procedures and standards.
* Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent).
* Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
* Understanding of mechanical assemblies and components
The Package:
Hours: Standard working hours are Monday to Thursday 08.15 – 17.00, Friday
22 days annual leave, plus Bank Holidays (accumulating +1 day for every 3 years of service)
