Overview
We are seeking a Midwife or Nurse with a passion for Infant Feeding to join the team and get involved with providing specialist advice and support across the Perinatal areas of the Division. This is a dynamic role and you will be joining the team at an exciting time of expansion. The maternity department at Southmead Hospital has a multi disciplinary infant feeding team, and works closely with NICU and the Regional Milk Bank. We are BFI accredited and you will be fully involved with the development to reach Gold standard or Achieving sustainability in 2026. Responsibilities
* Provide individualised specialist advice for mothers and babies with breastfeeding difficulties
* Support the Infant Feeding Specialist Midwife in Maternity and the Infant Feeding Specialist Nurse in NICU with duties and responsibilities as directed
* Prepare and complete audits as directed by the BFI framework, including implementing any action plans
* Conduct BFI audit with mothers and families and staff
* Provide expert teaching for the mandatory study days for maternity unit staff

The service at North Bristol Trust is based at Southmead Hospital and provides a full range of obstetric services for those who live in the catchment of North Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. The maternity department is one of the largest in the country, was awarded ‘Good’ by the CQC has more than 5200 births each year offering women the choice of 3 places of birth. This role will build on your existing midwifery skills and knowledge and you will receive specialist training. You will work closely with the Infant Feeding Specialist Midwife and Nurse to implement the action plans agreed by the Maternity Matrons and Head of Midwifery. You will be expected to work independently when based in the community clinics.
