Your new companyYou will be working with a Tier 1 contractor delivering highways and infrastructure works across regional sites. The organisation is known for its strong safety culture, structured delivery approach, and commitment to operational excellence on critical infrastructure projects.Your new roleAs a Highways Supervisor, you will be engaged on a 3-month contract, overseeing gangs on site and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required standard.Key responsibilities include:
* Supervising gangs on site and managing daily work activity
* Delivering toolbox talks, morning briefings, and end-of-day debriefs
* Carrying out site audits, inspections, and health & safety checks
* Driving productivity while maintaining quality and compliance
* Managing permits, mandatory checks, and site documentation
* Coordinating materials, fleet issues, and emergency responses
* Monitoring compliance systems and reporting performance issues
What you'll need to succeed
* Proven experience supervising highways or civil engineering operatives
* Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, safe systems of work, and highways standards
* Experience carrying out site audits, inspections, and permit management (PUWER, hot works, etc.)
* The ability to manage and motivate site teams and communicate clearly at all levels
* A proactive, organised, and safety-first approach to supervision
* Relevant qualifications such as SSSTS or SMSTS, first aid, and highways safety accreditations
