This role has a starting salary of £24,177 per annum, based on working 3 days (21.6 hours) per week, with the potential of increasing to full time as the programme grows.
We are excited to be hiring a new Residential Childcare Apprenticeship Trainer and Assessor to join our fantastic Apprenticeship team. As Surrey County Council plans to expand residential childcare homes across the county, we seek a flexible and responsive individual to help make this apprenticeship delivery a success!
We are committed to providing a healthy work-life balance, including flexible working. Although based at our Woking Adult Learning Centre, staff can work flexibly, including from home. Travel within Surrey to other centres and learner placements in Children's Residential care homes will be required. Some work outside normal hours may be necessary depending on learners' shifts.

About the Role
The Residential Childcare Trainer will deliver apprenticeship programs through group and individual sessions at workplaces, training centres, or remotely via MS Teams. Responsibilities include training, assessment, ensuring quality assurance and compliance, using OneFile e-portfolio for planning, assessments, and feedback.
You will support and motivate a caseload of 15-18 learners, integrating topics like safeguarding, British values, and EDI. You will communicate with learners and line managers to track progress and implement action plans. While Functional Skills English and Maths are taught separately by specialists, you will embed these skills into your training.
This role involves delivering Level 4 and Level 5 Residential Childcare Apprenticeships, including NCFE/CACHE Diplomas.

Level 5 - Children, young people and families manager / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education

Shortlisting Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate:
* Residential/social childcare qualification and/or significant experience in a senior residential childcare role
* Thorough knowledge of current children's home legislation in England
* A Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths
* Willingness and ability to travel across Surrey
* Excellent IT and organisational skills
If you lack the following qualifications, you will need to complete them within 6 months of employment with our support:
* An introductory teaching/training award (PTLLS/L3 Award in Education & Training or equivalent)
* An Assessor qualification (TAQA/A1 or equivalent)
