Position Details
Job Title: HIGH SCHOOL MATH/COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHER 1.0 FTE
Deliver engaging, high-quality standards-aligned mathematics and computer science instruction to high school students using effective, research-based instructional practices that meet diverse learning needs at the high school level. This role includes collaborating with families and colleagues; planning and teaching integrated math and computer science content; using assessment data to inform instruction; supporting Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) structures; and incorporating technology to enhance engagement.
Qualifications:
1. State of Michigan Teaching Certificate – Mathematics, EX Endorsement (required)
2. Certification/training in Computer Science (preferred)
3. Experience teaching high school mathematics, computer science, and Advanced Placement courses (preferred)
4. Experience in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) & Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies (PBIS)
5. Experience teaching or implementing International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) programmes (preferred)
6. Experience developing and utilizing a variety of assessments to inform teaching
Essential Functions:
7. Knowledge of instructional practices for varied learning styles and individual student needs
8. Ability to design and implement rigorous curriculum that is aligned with College Board standards and AP frameworks
9. Ability to connect mathematical concepts with computational thinking, helping students understand the intersection of logic, algorithms, and data security
10. Ability to teach Math, AP Computer Science, and/or AP Cybersecurity courses using student-centered instructional practices
11. Ability to demonstrate foundational knowledge of or willingness to learn programming languages (e.g., Java, Python)
12. Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
13. Ability to motivate and inspire high school students through differentiated and engaging instruction
14. Ability to design and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction for high school learners
15. Ability to transform instruction through the creative use of technology
16. Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening skills)
17. Willingness and commitment to participate in curriculum development, school improvement committees, and professional development opportunities
18. Willingness and ability to contribute to a team-based approach to planning and school-wide initiatives
19. Successful classroom management strategies and skills
20. Willingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
21. Ability to be enthusiastic and flexible
22. Ability to complete other duties as assigned
