This full-time role is based at Crawley Police Station, Crawley, West Sussex, and offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with previous experience as a police officer or statement taker.
Job Opportunity: Statement Taker - Sussex Police
1. Location: Crawley Police Station, Crawley, West Sussex
2. Job Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Responsibilities:
3. Collaborate with investigating officers to gather statements and evidence from witnesses and individuals involved in various incidents.
4. Visit and interact with members of the public to conduct statement-taking, which may include sensitive and challenging situations.
5. Assist in the collection and seizure of CCTV footage and other relevant materials.
6. Digitally upload evidence to police IT systems and partner agency platforms, ensuring efficient and accurate data management.
Requirements:
7. Previous experience as a police officer or statement taker.
8. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work methodically and effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
9. Excellent communication skills to respond to correspondence and enquiries professionally and courteously.
10. Previous experience working in a team environment.
11. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel), with a willingness to learn new IT systems.
12. Background in quality assuring documents and familiarity with data protection regulations (GDPR) for handling confidential information.
13. Ability to produce clear, legible, and accurate statements, and detail activities related to evidence production.
14. Resilience to handle challenging and distressing witnesses.
15. Flexibility to work evenings when needed and to attend court proceedings if required.
16. Valid driver's license and the ability to pass a check drive for operating fleet cars.
