Temporary maternity cover until 7th August 2026. This is a 52-week non-sessional post, including working during school holidays.

Wednesday, 08:00-12:15
Thursday, 08:00-14:00

Our nursery operates a 48-week model, open from 8.15am to 5.45pm. Children attend two days a week (plus alternate Fridays) to access their entitlement to 1140 hours of free Early Learning and Childcare funded by the Scottish Government. Our Early Years Practitioners are motivated and enthusiastic, led by two Senior Early Years Practitioners, supported by the Depute and Head Teacher. We seek an experienced Senior Early Years Practitioner passionate about Early Years provision, committed to developing and encouraging best practices at a high standard. Experience with 1140h provision is advantageous.
Letham Mains Primary School, East Lothian's newest primary school, opened in February 2021, with a rapidly growing roll. Our nursery is bright, spacious, and offers outdoor play opportunities, highly valued by pupils.

To supervise a team of early learning and childcare practitioners daily, delivering a high-quality, child-centred service that supports children and families, enabling each child to reach their potential in a caring, safe, and welcoming environment.

Job Requirements
Qualifications
You must have at least HNC in Early Education and Childcare, or hold SNNB/HNC/SVQ3 qualifications in Childcare/Education or equivalent, with evidence of ongoing learning and knowledge of current practice and legislation related to Early Learning and Childcare.
Scottish Social Services Council:
SSSC registration is mandatory. If not already registered, you must apply within 3 months of starting, to ensure registration within 6 months.
PVG Membership
This role is classified as a Regulated Role involving vulnerable children and/or protected adults, under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020.
All preferred candidates for regulated roles must become or update PVG Scheme membership before employment.
