About the Role
Outwood Academy Hindley is looking to appoint a Lead Learning Manager. This role includes managing a team of five Learning Managers who each look after the pastoral and academic progress of a year group in school. The Lead Learning Manager will communicate a clear purpose and vision to ensure students have the support they require to maximise their attainment. They will also take a strategic and operational lead for the welfare and safeguarding of our children and young people.
Responsibilities
The Lead Learning Manager will:
* Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring safeguarding training remains current and effective across the academy.
* Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to manage safeguarding concerns and referrals, including referring cases of suspected abuse or neglect to children’s social care and supporting staff throughout the referral process.
* Make referrals to Channel, the Disclosure and Barring Service or the police where appropriate, and attend and contribute to multi‑agency meetings and strategy discussions.
* Maintain detailed, accurate and secure safeguarding records in line with academy policy and statutory guidance.
* Ensure strong safeguarding procedures are in place for vulnerable students accessing Alternative Provision with other providers.
* Promote positive behaviour and attitude across the academy, ensuring students follow the Positive Behaviour for Learning and Life policy.
* Support a strong culture of safeguarding, attendance and inclusion across the school, acting as a trusted point of contact for families and coordinating multi‑agency support.
