Clinical Nurse Specialist - Palliative Care
Job Overview
Join the Community Specialist Palliative Care Team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. This role demands advanced evidence‑based palliative care skills, a level 6+ Palliative Care/Oncology qualification, V300 prescribing, and advanced communication. You will provide professional leadership, advice and support to health professionals, patients and carers to enhance the quality of life for those with life‑limiting illness, including complex physical, psychological and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver clinical expertise and leadership within the community setting for patients receiving palliative care across Liverpool and South Sefton.
* Assess holistic needs of patients, providing advice and support to health professionals in community inpatient and other community settings.
* Collaborate with partner organisations and IMPACT to ensure patients are directed to the right service at the right time.
* Support service users, families and carers in understanding and managing complex information and decisions.
* Co‑ordinate with multi‑agency teams, contributing to development and implementation of advanced palliative care protocols.
Person Specification – Essential
* Post‑registration nursing qualification with evidence of clinical leadership and multi‑agency working.
* Experience and confidence in delivering education and training in specialist areas.
* Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Risk assessment, data analysis and report‑writing abilities.
* Proficiency with NHS IT systems and evidence of understanding local and national NHS agendas.
* V300 prescriber or willingness to obtain.
* Knowledge of current palliative and end‑of‑life care initiatives.
* Ability to travel across the geographic area and manage a diverse workload.
* Commitment to continuous improvement, accountability and excellence in patient care.
Person Specification – Desirable
* First line management qualification.
* Clinical Examination and Diagnostics training or working towards it.
* Research skills and experience delivering education and training programmes.
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Nursing or a related health discipline.
* Evidence of CPD and short‑course completion.
* Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or relevant professional body.
* Appropriate prescriber (V300).
Additional Information
* UK professional registration is required.
* Applicants must undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
