Location: Newport Area
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioural Support Assistant to join our supportive team in the Newport area. This rewarding role is ideal for someone passionate about helping pupils overcome behavioural challenges and supporting their emotional and social development within a school setting.
As a Behavioural Support Assistant, you will be instrumental in supporting pupils with a range of behavioural needs, ensuring they have access to the tools and strategies needed to thrive in the classroom. You’ll work alongside teachers, ALNCO (Additional Learning Needs Coordinators), and other staff to deliver tailored support that promotes positive behaviour and helps pupils build key social and emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support pupils with behavioural and emotional needs in a classroom environment
2. Implement strategies and interventions to promote positive behaviour and manage challenges
3. Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment
4. Deliver 1:1 and small group support as needed
5. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to boost confidence and engagement
6. Help create a respectful and supportive school culture where every pupil has the chance to succeed
Ideal Candidate
7. Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a behavioural support or special educational needs role
8. A compassionate and patient individual with a genuine desire to help students reach their potential
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
10. Able to work well within a team and respond positively to guidance and feedback
11. A proactive and solution-focused approach
12. Relevant qualifications (desirable but not essential)
13. Welsh speaking ability (desirable but not essential)
