Briggs Automotive Company is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer with an automotive background and a passion for performance vehicles. This key role supports a small, specialist purchasing function, managing both strategic and operational procurement of vehicle parts, components, and systems.
You will play a hands-on role in supplier management, cost control, quality assurance, and process improvement within a low-volume, high-performance production environment. We are looking for a strong completer–finisher — someone who takes ownership, follows tasks through to closure, and ensures no detail is missed.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
Procurement & Commodity Ownership
* Own assigned commodities and supplier portfolios
* Manage end-to-end sourcing: RFQs, supplier selection, negotiation, and order placement
* Translate engineering requirements into effective sourcing strategies
* Support NPI and engineering changes through early supplier involvement
* Maintain strong supplier relationships to meet quality, delivery, and cost targets
* Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms
* Monitor supplier performance and drive corrective and cost-reduction actions
Operational Purchasing & Supply Support
* Manage purchase orders, confirmations, and delivery tracking
* Work with production and planning to ensure material availability
* Reduce supply risk, optimise inventory, and resolve shortages or delays
Quality & Process Improvement
* Support supplier quality assurance with engineering and quality teams
* Contribute to procurement process improvements and reporting
* Ensure compliance with internal purchasing procedures
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive purchasing or manufacturing procurement
* Strong knowledge of automotive components and supplier networks
* Experience in low-volume manufacturing environments & cross-commodity purchasing
* Proven experience in supplier negotiation and commercial management
* Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
* Able to work independently while contributing to a small team
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Advanced IT proficiency: MS Office, advanced Excel
* Ideally CIPS qualified or working towards
