Hays Recruitment have partnered with Leicestershire County Council in the search for a Technical Specialist with knowledge of firewalls. This is an ideal role if you are looking to expand and develop your knowledge of firewalls with plenty of development opportunities.
Working as part of a team of 4, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the IT infrastructure to ensure that services are reliable, resilient and provide value for money. You will be primarily responsible for the management, monitoring and upgrading of both on-prem and virtual firewalls and perimeter security. You will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the concept and principles of firewalls. The team has a strong ethos of knowledge sharing to support your development.
Your new role will involve:
The role epasses the following
1. Support, configure and administer corporate firewall and perimeter security platforms
2. Liaise with customers and appropriate IT staff
3. Follow technical and security standards to ensure cost-effective, secure and high availability of systems.
4. Support, install and implement IT infrastructure solutions
5. Configure, test and install operating systems and hardware using supplier rmendations and best practice across a range of platforms.
6. Assist in the design and build process of IT infrastructure solutions
7. Work in a team of IT technicians with a broad range of technologies including:
8. Hyper-Converged Systems (HCI)
9. Infrastructure Security
10. SQL Database Administration
11. System Backup Management & Administration
12. Server administration (Windows, Solaris, Linux, VMWare)
13. File Structure and Permission Management
14. Facilities Management
15. Security Testing
16. Disaster Recovery
What you need to succeed:
17. Strong understanding and interest in firewalls and networks
18. Demonstrable experience in perimeter security
19. Demonstrable experience with the principles and concepts of firewalls
20. Experience upgrading, managing and monitoring firewalls
21. Understanding of storage infrastructure
22. Understanding of virtual infrastructure
23. MS / SQL knowledge
There will be occasional out of hours requirements for planned works or major incidents, therefore you will need to be within an hour of the location and have your own transport.Sponsorship is not available for this role
