Role Purpose:
Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced Financial Controller to join their Manchester-based team. While this role begins as a 12-month maternity cover, their continued expansion in the social care sector means there is a genuine opportunity for the role to become permanent.
Reporting to the CFO, you will hit the ground running to manage the finance team and oversee their financial operations using Sage Intacct. We are ideally looking for an immediate start to allow for a comprehensive handover, although this could be delayed till the beginning of June at the latest.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Manchester Presence
* Directly supervise a team (transactional & Management Accounts).
* Maintain team culture and performance across a hybrid 2-day office/3-day remote split.
* Provide technical mentorship to ensure the finance function remains high-performing.
Financial Operations (Sage Intacct)
* Full ownership of Sage Intacct, ensuring the ledger reflects the complexities of social care funding.
* Oversee high-volume billing and payroll for frontline care staff.
* Ensure all month-end and year-end deadlines are met with high accuracy.
Strategy & Reporting
* Deliver monthly board-level management accounts and variance analysis to the CFO.
* Oversee cash flow forecasting and budget management for multiple office locations and service lines.
* Lead the year-end audit process (June year-end) and maintain statutory compliance.
Experience Required:
* Ideally a qualified accountant: ACCA, CIMA, or ACA.
* Sage Intacct: Prior professional experience with this specific software is preferred but not essential.
* Availability: Able to start ASAP or no later than June 2026.
* Team Management: Proven track record of managing teams
* Sector Expertise: Experience in Social Care, Healthcare, or Multi-site environments is a distinct advantage.
