Field Service Technician - Mining
Location: Remote / Travel to sites in Derbyshire

We are recruiting for a Field Service Technician for the Mining department of a leading global engineering company to work in and around the Derbyshire area.
Are you a skilled Field Service or Maintenance Technician experienced with heavy equipment, mining machinery or drilling systems? We are supporting a major industry leader in hiring a Field Service Technician to join their Mining team. This is a customer‑facing role, working both independently and on‑site across multiple customer locations.
The Role
As a Field Service Technician, you will play a key part in maintaining and supporting a fleet of surface drills and mining equipment. You will be the first point of contact for breakdowns, maintenance, inspections and commissioning tasks—working both in the field and occasionally underground.
This position offers significant variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to develop cross‑skills across a range of equipment types.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond to breakdowns and maintenance needs, carrying out diagnostics and on‑site repairs.
* Deliver high‑quality service and support to customers across the UK, maintaining and enhancing the brand’s reputation.
* Plan tools, parts and resources needed for each job in line with work procedures.
* Carry out preventive maintenance and cost‑efficient repairs on customer equipment.
* Support the active fleet across the UK & Ireland, including installation, testing, maintenance and call‑out issues.
* Improve machine availability through strong engineering practice and problem‑solving.
* Liaise closely with the internal aftersales and operations teams to ensure timely service delivery.
* Promote and follow all Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) standards and procedures.
* Prior experience working with heavy machinery, drilling or mining equipment is highly desirable.
* Prepared and able to work in underground mining environments when required.
* Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding skills; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Customer‑focused approach with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proactive mindset with the ability to identify service opportunities.
* Commercial awareness and a commitment to delivering high service standards.
* Good understanding of Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental policies.
* HNC/HND or further technical education preferred.
