PE Lead (UQT) – Aurora Summerfields School
Aurora Summerfields School is seeking a passionate, energetic and child‑centred PE Lead (UQT) to champion physical education and promote healthy, active lifestyles across our school community. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who believes in the power of movement, creativity and inclusive practice to transform young lives.
About the Role
As our PE Lead, you will deliver high‑quality, engaging PE lessons that meet the diverse needs of our pupils, many of whom have Autism, ADHD or other SEND profiles. You’ll create motivating learning experiences that build confidence, independence and lifelong skills — both inside and outside the classroom.
You’ll also play a key role in strengthening our links with the local community, helping students access meaningful social, recreational and physical opportunities beyond school.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Delivering accessible, differentiated and inspiring PE lessons tailored to individual needs.
2. Supporting students’ physical development through personalised plans, adapted resources and safe, structured environments.
3. Promoting positive behaviour using proactive, relationship‑centred strategies.
4. Monitoring and reporting on pupil progress, including EHCP targets and therapeutic goals.
5. Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, clinical teams, the SENDCO and families to ensure a holistic approach.
6. Encouraging independence, emotional wellbeing and personal development.
7. Contributing to wider curriculum skills including Maths, English and life skills.
8. Maintaining and managing PE equipment and ensuring safe practice at all times.
9. Representing the school within the community and fostering external partnerships.
10. Participating in staff training, meetings and whole‑school events.
Our School
Aurora Summerfields School opened its doors in April 3 in the heart of Wilmslow, offering a nurturing and specialist environment for up to students. As a brand‑new independent school, we support children and young people aged 5 to who experience challenges linked to complex communication needs, often associated with Autism spectrum conditions. Our mission is to provide a setting where every learner feels understood, valued and empowered to thrive.
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need formal teaching qualifications — what matters most is your passion, creativity and commitment to putting children first.
Essential Skills & Experience
11. Experience working with pupils with SEND, ideally in a specialist setting.
12. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
13. Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
14. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
15. Calm, compassionate and resilient approach to supporting students through challenges.
16. Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
17. Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
Desirable
18. Understanding of the PE curriculum and health & safety standards.
19. Experience using visual supports and sensory‑aware teaching strategies.
