School Caretaker – Primary School, Harlow
£16 per hour | Full-time | Temp-to-Perm | Immediate Start (Monday 30th March)
A welcoming and supportive Primary School in Harlow is looking for a reliable and experienced Caretaker to join their site team. This is a fantastic long-term opportunity with a clear route to a permanent contract.
About the Role
* Full-time, 5 days per week
* Initial working hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm
* Shift patterns may become available later
* Pay: £16 per hour
* After a successful 15-week period, the role becomes permanent, with an annual salary of £26,900
* Immediate start required – Monday 30th March
Key Responsibilities
* General maintenance and handyperson tasks across the school site
* Basic plumbing and electrical maintenance (essential)
* Minor repairs, safety checks, and upkeep of school facilities
* Ensuring the site is safe, clean, and well-presented for pupils and staff
* Opening/closing the school building when required
* Supporting health & safety compliance
Requirements
* Enhanced DBS for the Child Workforce, registered on the Update Service
o (Or willingness to apply – £49 initial cost, refunded after 20 shifts)
* 2 years of work references
* Experience in general maintenance, repairs, basic plumbing, and basic electrical work
* Ability to work independently and take initiative
* Reliable, trustworthy, and confident working in a school environment
