Vacancy: Legal Cashier
Position: Full time, permanent
Location: Hastings
My client is a regional law firm who have a high reputation for their ‘in depth knowledge’. They have been serving expertise to their clients for over years. Due to constant growth, they are seeking a Legal Cashier to join them in the Hastings office.
What You’ll Do:
1. Sort and distribute daily incoming post and DX to the relevant team members.
2. Download and process bank statements for all accounts on a daily basis.
3. Reconcile Client and Business bank accounts as required.
4. Keep track of the banking forecast and apply funds as necessary.
5. Monitor and process electronic payments (CHAPS, BACs, FPC) throughout the day.
6. Allocate, post, and manage incoming electronic and manual receipts.
7. Set up and process CHAPS transactions and other electronic payments as requested by fee earners, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
8. Handle foreign payments when requested.
9. Prepare Client and Business credits for banking, and complete bank deposit books as necessary.
10. Process cheque requests and print cheques for signing.
11. Calculate and apply Client interest when requested.
12. Process credit/debit card payments and manage Client to Business transfers for costs and disbursements.
13. Keep Client ledgers accurate, ensuring no posting errors or overdrafts.
14. Print, check, and distribute file labels and run housekeeping system reports.
15. Assist the Finance Manager and Senior Cashier when required.
16. Ensure full compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules.
17. Respond to internal and external enquiries related to accounts.
18. Manage petty cash payments and perform reconciliations.
19. Perform general filing and administrative duties as needed.
20. Provide support with any other tasks to help keep the accounts department running smoothly.
What You’ll Need:
21. At least 2 years of experience as a Legal Cashier, preferably with client-side experience.
22. A good understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules.
23. GCSEs or an equivalent qualification.
24. Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.
25. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
26. Excellent communication skills with a professional phone manner.
27. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
28. A team player with a positive attitude.
29. Familiarity with Partner for Windows is a bonus.
