About the role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious, and organised individual to join our team. In this role, your focus will be on helping our Communications and Helpline team deliver their vital services. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the heart of a charity committed to creating a dyslexia-inclusive society.
You will support our mission by ensuring individuals and families receive timely, accurate information through direct support and digital communications. You will help deliver a responsive and compassionate helpline service, boost the charity’s online presence through content creation, social media engagement, and website updates. This role enhances our visibility, accessibility, and impact.
Responsibilities
Helpline:
* Support helpline volunteers, ensuring they understand their roles and have access to resources.
* Maintain volunteer rotas for helpline coverage.
* Develop and update helpline resources, ensuring volunteers are equipped with current information.
* Monitor call volumes and trends to support service improvements.
* Handle sensitive issues with discretion, following confidentiality and safeguarding policies.
Communications:
* Support digital, print, and social media communications.
* Create, schedule, and publish content on social media platforms (e.g., X, Instagram, LinkedIn).
* Assist with website updates, ensuring content is current and accessible.
* Support email marketing campaigns, including drafting content and monitoring metrics.
* Monitor social media and website analytics, producing engagement reports.
* Help manage content calendars for social media and email campaigns.
* Assist in drafting press releases, blogs, and supporter communications.
* Support campaign, event, and fundraising promotion.
* Maintain communication databases, ensuring GDPR compliance.
* Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, tailoring content for different audiences.
* Be empathetic and confident when supporting people via phone, email, and online, with excellent listening skills.
* Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, X, LinkedIn) for organizational and campaign purposes.
* Good organizational skills, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
* Basic understanding of website content management systems (Craft, WordPress, or similar).
* Be friendly, approachable, and proactive, working well in a team and taking initiative.
* Work independently and flexibly, with attention to detail.
* Align with the charity’s values around inclusion, accessibility, and support for those in need.
* Experience in helpline, customer service, or support roles.
* Familiarity with email marketing tools (Mailchimp) and basic design tools (Canva).
* Knowledge of accessibility best practices in digital communications.
* Awareness of issues affecting people with dyslexia.
Working locations
* Hybrid model: in-office in Bracknell and remote work.
* Occasional travel for team days twice a year.
