Job Description

As a Housing Compliance Officer, your role will involve ensuring residential properties managed by YMCA North Tyneside and partners comply with safety regulations, including inspections, hazard identification, reporting, and corrective actions. Extensive travel across Yorkshire and East Midlands regions is required, so a full driving license and access to a vehicle are essential.
We support your professional development by funding the NEBOSH Level 3 General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct property safety inspections and audits.
2. Liaise with senior management and key stakeholders.
3. Ensure document compliance (e.g., HHSRS).
4. Produce detailed reports with photographic evidence.
5. Conduct Tenant Satisfaction Measure surveys.
6. Stay updated on relevant legislation and policies.
7. Contribute to training for staff and partners.
8. Ensure timely completion of safety checks.
9. Track inspections, repairs, and certifications in our systems.
10. Issue and follow up on repair orders.
11. Re-inspect properties as needed.
12. Generate compliance reports and identify areas for improvement.
What We’re Looking For
1. Understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and relevant housing law.
2. Experience in property inspections and hazard identification.
3. Proactive, detail-oriented with relationship-building and problem-solving skills.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Knowledge of supported accommodation and social housing frameworks.
6. Proficiency in Google Workspace, MS Office, email, and databases.
7. Strong organisational skills for managing electronic information.
8. Commitment to CPD and legislative updates.
9. Full UK driving license.
