Our client, a high-profile public-sector organisation is seeking an experienced Interim Head of HR to provide leadership and stability during a period of significant organisational transformation. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for a large HR function and related support services. You will lead a team of Senior HR Business Partners, oversee the Directorate Support function, and work closely with the senior leadership team and key stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will provide both strategic HR leadership and hands-on support, ensuring people priorities remain central to the organisation's transformation agenda. You will also play a key role in employee relations and engagement with recognised trade unions (GMB, Unite, Unison).
* Lead organisational transformation, workforce planning, and cultural change.
* Manage complex ER issues, consultations, and trade union negotiations.
* Provide strategic direction while overseeing day-to-day HR delivery.
* Support senior leaders and drive high performance across the HR function.
* Ensure delivery of effective, efficient and future-facing workforce solutions.
Ideal candidate:
* Proven success operating at senior level within a large, complex organisation.
* Strong track record of leading on complex ER cases and consultations.
* Experience of developing and driving a culture which puts customers first and where all employees can realise their potential.
* Experienced in leading HR teams through significant change.
* Pragmatic, resilient, and confident influencing at Board/Director level.
* HRIS/data systems experience (e.g. iTrent) advantageous.
Summary:
This is a high-profile interim role requiring a senior HR professional who can quickly establish credibility, provide assurance, and deliver impact in a fast-paced environment. Please note as this is an interim role, you will need to be available at short notice. This organisation offers hybrid working with an expectation of 3 days on site.
