An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our pharmacy team at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. We are looking for a progressive and proactive individual with strong leadership and problem-solving skills. Applicants must be self-motivated and organised and able to work effectively alone and as part of a team, contributing to service development and innovation by initiative and enthusiasm. As a Senior Pharmacy Assistant within the pharmacy team, you will help develop a person-centred care pharmacy service and coordinate the safe and effective flow of work through the dispensary.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties / Responsibilities
* Coordinate the safe and effective flow of work through the dispensary, ensuring all involved have necessary information to meet patient medication supply needs, under the direction of the Senior Pharmacy Technician.
* Actively manage, supervise and coordinate pharmacy team members, including staff appraisal, work allocation, sickness and annual leave management.
* Assist in training of pharmacy staff working in the dispensary and satellite pharmacy areas.
* Operate pharmacy systems to carry out tasks accurately and timely; provide administrative and clerical support for dispensary-related work; lead the use of the pharmacy tracker system to ensure a safe, efficient service and high quality care.
* Assist in recruitment of staff, delivery of KPIs, production of rotas and production of reports using the pharmacy tracker system; work within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Assist in the management and delivery of near-patient medicines management to inpatients across BCUHB sites.

Qualifications And Knowledge
Essential criteria
* GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics and English grade C or above.
* NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services, or willingness to work towards.
* Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Level 2 qualification or equivalent or willingness to work towards.
Desirable criteria
* Support staff accuracy checking qualification, or willing to work towards.
Experience
Essential criteria
* Has worked in a dispensary area of a hospital pharmacy department.
* Experience of leading a team, training and mentoring staff.
* Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team environment. Knowledge of Key Performance Indicators.
Desirable criteria
* Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work to targets; conflict resolution experience.
