Consultant Clinical Psychologist – Learning Disability Service (Citywide) | Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT)
The role provides a key leadership position in the citywide Learning Disability Service, contributing to the Senior Leadership Team and supporting strategic development, governance, and high-quality psychological care for people with learning disabilities in Leeds.
Responsibilities
* Lead and inspire the Psychological Services within the Learning Disability (LD) service, fostering collaboration, learning, and excellence.
* Be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to strategic decisions and service development.
* Accept Trust-wide responsibilities as a Senior Professional, attending key meetings and supporting investigations and complaints as required.
* Deliver expert psychological assessments and interventions for individuals with LD or suspected LD using evidence-based approaches.
* Oversee governance and policy development to ensure services are safe, effective, and person-centred.
* Provide dedicated clinical care to a caseload of individuals with highly complex needs and clinical presentations.
* Provide clinical supervision and ensure supervision for all staff; address performance issues and support wellbeing and retention.
* Identify CPD needs of staff and offer professional supervision and development opportunities.
* Lead on resource management, recruitment, and strategic deployment of psychological expertise across the service.
* Work autonomously within professional guidelines and oversee governance of psychological practice.
* Act as a highly specialist resource to the wider professional community; make recommendations for audits, policy, and service development related to LD cases.
* Propose and implement service development changes within the LD care group and collaborate with professionals inside and outside the organisation to achieve high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications
* Essential – Doctorate level training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) with HCPC registration.
Experience
* Essential – Experience of teaching, training, and supervision of staff; clinical and professional/managerial.
* Experience of working with people in LD with complex needs and delivering appropriate interventions.
* Post-qualification training and experience relevant to the service and job role; experience leading projects/services within a healthcare system.
