We are looking for a Senior HR Adviser to join ourHR team and help deliver a high-quality, proactive and people-focused HRservice across the organisation.

Working closely with the Head of HR, you will provideexpert advice and guidance on a wide range of HR matters, support managers withemployee relations casework, and contribute to the continuous improvement of HRpolicies, processes and people initiatives. The role covers the full employeelifecycle and also includes involvement in volunteering, staff training anddevelopment coordination, equality, diversity and inclusion, and wider HRprojects.


Main duties of the job

* Provide practical, solution-focused HR advice and guidance to managers and staff
* Manage a varied employee relations caseload, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence matters
* Support recruitment, onboarding and wider employee lifecycle processes
* Contribute to the review, development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and guidance
* Support staff training and development coordination
* Contribute to volunteering-related HR activity where required
* Promote equality, diversity and inclusion through HR policy and practice
* Maintain accurate HR records, reporting and systems
* Support continuous improvement across the HR function

Job responsibilities

The SeniorHR Adviser will play a key role in delivering a high quality, proactive HRservice across the organisation. This is a broad generalist role with bothoperational and strategic responsibilities, covering the full employeelifecycle as well as volunteering, staff training and development coordination,equality, diversity and inclusion, and wider people initiatives.

Reporting tothe Head of HR, the postholder will support the day to day operation of the HRfunction, provide expert advice and guidance to managers, and help shape peopleinitiatives that align with employment legislation, best practice, and theorganisations values. The role also contributes to the development andcontinuous improvement of HR policies, processes and people strategies tosupport the organisations values as a hospice charity.


HRAdvisory & Employee Relations

Provideclear, consistent, and legally compliant advice to managers, coaching them tobuild confidence in handling people management issues.

Liaise withOccupational Health providers and other relevant stakeholders to supporteffective case management and employee wellbeing.

Provide high-quality, solution focused HR adviceand guidance to managers and staff on a wide range of employee relationsmatters.

Support and manage employee relations casework,ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes.


Recruitment& Employee Lifecycle

Partner withrecruiting managers to deliver end to end recruitment activity, ensuring fair,inclusive, and values based recruitment practices.

Coordinate recruitment, onboarding and inductionprocesses to support a positive candidate and employee experience.

Promote equality, diversity and inclusion throughHR practice, advice, recruitment and employee development processes.

Attend andrepresent the organisation at external recruitment events and initiatives asrequired.


HR Systems and Data Management

Use HR data, trends and insight to supportreporting, workforce planning and continuous improvement.

Produce HRreports and management information as required, supporting workforce planningand informed decision making.

Promote dataaccuracy and consistency across HR records and processes.


Payroll

Supervise thepayroll function in the absence of the HR Adviser - Systems & Payroll andwork closely with the payroll & systems Co-ordinator co-or, ensuringpayroll changes are accurate and authorised.

Review andauthorise payroll outputs when required, working closely with finance andpayroll colleagues.


TeamLeadership and Delegation

Support theday to day management of the HR team, providing guidance and direction to HRcolleagues.

Delegate workappropriately, ensuring tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and withinagreed timescales.

Act as adeputy for the Head of HR as required, supporting continuity of service.


HRPolicy, Processes & Compliance

Maintain,review, and update HR policies, procedures, templates, and guidance to ensurecompliance with employment law and best practice.

Manageand update HR content on SharePoint and other platforms to ensure accessibilityand consistency.

Promoteequality, diversity, and inclusion through policy and practice.


Person Specification


Experience

* Proven experience working as an HR Adviser or HR Generalist or in a similar advisory level HR role
* Sound, up to date knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practice
* Demonstrable experience managing a varied employee relations caseload, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and sickness absence cases
* Experience of providing practical, solution focused HR advice and coaching to managers
* Experience of supporting end to end recruitment and onboarding processes
* Experience of reviewing, developing and implementing HR policies and procedures
* Experience of working with HR systems and producing accurate management information and HR reports
* Experience of payroll oversight or working closely with payroll and finance colleagues
* Experience of handling confidential and sensitive information in line with GDPR and data protection requirements


Qualifications

* CIPD Level 5 qualification, or equivalent, or demonstrable equivalent experience
* Commitment to ongoing professional development in HR practice and employment law
