Job Description We have a temporary role available for a duration of 12 months for a Technical Support Officer to work within our Applications team providing technical and functional support for a variety of critical business systems. The Applications delivery area comprises people-focussed, technical specialists whose passion is maintaining robust, highly available business systems which allow policing information to be available when and where required. Main Responsibilities Oversee the administration, maintenance, development, installation, configuration, and support of all IT infrastructure, devices, and applications across the IT Directorate. Provide expert technical knowledge across a range of support and development services, including but not limited to: Solution provision, development, and implementation Installation, configuration, and ongoing system optimisation Contribution to the development and enforcement of technical standards Service monitoring, proactive maintenance, asset management, and issue prevention Fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of incidents and problems System upgrades and application patching Effective liaison and coordination with third-party suppliers and service providers Delivery of expert technical advice and guidance to end users and internal teams Creation of technical documentation and training materials, and delivery of relevant training sessions Lead the ongoing development of technical support services and infrastructure to meet the organisation’s evolving IT needs. Contribute to the knowledge management strategy by creating and maintaining reusable knowledge base articles, procedural documentation, and service reports. Actively support performance monitoring, using agreed KPIs to identify and implement service improvement opportunities. Carry out remedial or developmental actions in response to service reviews, audits, or stakeholder feedback. Participate in the delivery of both business-as-usual (BAU) operations and technical projects, advising on and contributing to the design, development, and implementation of solutions. Skills And Experience Experience of working in an IT environment. Administering applications and resolving fault queries across multiple systems. Experience in relevant technologies. Experience of providing assistance to projects. You will use a combination of technical knowledge and interpersonal skills, including consultation skills. The successful candidate would benefit with prior experience of administrating applications, but will gain exposure, experience, and expertise in multiple applications.
