Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support – ASD, Non-Verbal)

We are seeking a caring and committed Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a primary-aged child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who is non-verbal. This rewarding role will begin in September 2025 at a welcoming and inclusive school in Blackburn.
About the Role:
* Provide consistent 1:1 support to a non-verbal child with ASD during the school day
* Assist with communication through alternative methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, visual aids)
* Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement the child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
* Support the child’s social, emotional, and academic development
* Promote a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working with children with ASD, ideally in a school or childcare setting
* Knowledge of non-verbal communication methods (training can be provided)
* Patient, nurturing, and flexible approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
