Manchester Metropolitan University has been proudly driving progress for more than two centuries. As one of the UK's largest and most popular universities, we're a force for good, dedicated to delivering outstanding research and excellent education. Much more than a university, we are a place where ambitious people unite as a diverse and inclusive community to make meaningful connections. Where world-class facilities combine with exceptional minds to improve lives through innovation. We welcome those who are committed, talented, and hardworking. People who believe in our values and are as driven as we are to achieve shared goals. Our community of over 5,100 colleagues work in close partnership every day to bring about positive change regionally, nationally, and globally.
Manchester School of Architecture (MSA) is an innovative collaboration between Manchester Metropolitan University and The University of Manchester currently placed 5th in the world in the QS 2025 Architecture rankings. It is one of the largest Schools of Architecture in the country and endeavours to be a contemporary School of Architecture in its truest and widest sense. We strive to be at the forefront of tackling contemporary societal issues such as diversity and equality, social justice, climate change, and the changing nature of the profession and practice. We are very proud of our roots in Manchester with its rich history of industry, revolution, innovation, change, and work ethic. This passion manifests in our ethos, “from the city, of the city, for the city, and beyond” which acts as a constant prompt of our responsibilities, duty, and role in the city, serving its communities, businesses and a wider global audience.
The Manchester School of Architecture is looking to bolster its Professoriate by appointing a new Professor of Architecture who will have the opportunity to contribute to the continued success of the School through proactive role modelling, making a significant contribution to the School's REF submission, generating research income, and contributing to the leadership in these areas. You will also support research colleagues at all career stages, as well as high quality studio, technologies, or humanities teaching that is informed by high level research.
At Manchester Metropolitan, professors play vital roles in the broader leadership of the University, contributing positively to our academic culture and supporting the development of others in our inclusive community, for example through mentoring, management, supervision and teamworking.
The University is committed to building a fully inclusive and diverse community, including in its senior leadership. We welcome and encourage applications from candidates from all backgrounds with the qualifications and experience to undertake this role, including under-represented groups.
